NOTE: Due to a bug in Movable Type (MT) that allows spammers to flood our comment boxes, my host has decided to seal off all the commenting until a patch is in place. I've switched to using Haloscan comment system for the time being and will probably export the comments back once MT fixes the problem.

It seems like my updates have become a weekly affair. I was telling some people that these days, blogging has gradually become more of a chore, even though there's a constant need for self-expression. From the day the event/incident happened, add a few days of indulging myself in the feelings/afterthoughts, waiting for photos, editing them, and actual blogging, it easily takes more than a few days for them to be translated into these words in my entries. And self-censorship in the form of selective filtering has reduced my blog to a mere lifeless, dusty display window. It's not really a choice, considering the fact that some of my closest peeps read what I write. Still, I'll take heed in someone's words: for memory's sake.

Overdriven
LGF's first band competition in Overdrive 2004 has met with bittersweet results. From the moment I witnessed the different bands soundchecking, I knew it was a different league as 4 out of the 6 bands there were funk/fusion bands while another was playing progressive rock like Dream Theater. We were the only rock/pop band playing chinese originals. It didn't help with a few of the judges being members of funk-influenced bands as well. Oh well. Nope, I wasn't really sore about not winning anything, just a tad disappointed. But still, we've learnt there are much more to just about winning the competition. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. From our well-coordinated dress code, to the hi-octane performance...from friends who came to give us support, to appreciative strangers who came up to us...right down to the 'chillout' sessions in the Kopitiam with da members and friends. Not forgetting, we finally have a decent video recording of our performance, kudos to Mel's film-maker friend, Jaymz. It'd be a blast to watch...and as a tool for self-improvement. We can't wait to get a copy of it after he's done with the encoding :)
Not forgetting, we'd like to thank everyone who came: Annie, Anna, Ming, Jaymz, Tiffany, Daryl, x.t and her friend. And strangers alike, who enjoyed themselves with our performances.

...and then there was one...
...a rare guest whom I got the chance to meet, not once...but twice! (damn, I haven't placed my 4-D bets yet! *lol*)
Ok, I did tell her about the competition and even though she was keen to drag a friend or two along to watch us, her prior-planned dinner with her girlfriends clashed with our timing, thus had to give it a miss. Nevertheless, I took the chance to meet up with her briefly and staying true to the legendary 'Twirl', here's the prove:

(in case you're wondering, the steps there weren't just meant for walking...haha...hey...cut me some slack and let the impression stay that way in the picture, yah? *lol*)
Then, came a pleasant surprise as she actually returned after her dinner with 2 of her pretty friends in the hopes to catch our performance! (though a little too late as we've finished our rounds) Thanks, Ting :)
All in all, the day brought about lots of thoughts, feelings, lessons...not just about the competition, but the whole experience as well. The eventful night seemingly ended with a slight headache as a result of a few continual days of deprived healthy sleep and some alcohol. However, it was not until a phone conversation which lasted till 5am, that truely sent a strangely good-feeling me to dreamland.
