April's been quite a ride of a month! Just this month alone, LGF has played 3 gigs almost consecutively. Next up: 2nd May at the Istana. We've got shows planned right up to July for now and if this continues, I might not even have time to blog! (not that anyone would complain *lol*)
Before I forget, here are the details for May day's gig:
President's Challenge Launch Event 2005
Date: 2 May 2005 (Mon)
Time: Event starts 10.45pm (LGF comes on around 12pm)
Venue: Istana
It's an open-house day at the Istana so come join us from 10:45am. Lots of performances throughout the day by Trivalation, Pulse and more!
Personally, it's gonna my first time stepping into the Istana (yah lah, a bit suakoo)...so it'd be a quite an experience to be performing in there! I've made jokes about how my guitar equipment and effects pedals would be scrutinized for clearance to enter the premises for they might think that they're some high-tech terrorist gadgets *lol*

Anyway, I'm taking this small break to update a little...and yes, there'll be pictures :)
First things first...If you're a reader of our local entertainment magazine, LIME, good! If you're not, go get yourself a copy now and keep your eyes peeled for a mini article on the upcoming Singapore Street Festival in June cos...*drumrolls*...LGF is one of the performers featured :)
The past few weeks of gigging, going around places and meeting new people have indeed spiced up my mundane life amidst the increasing duties at work...and since I ran late in blogging about them previously, here are some pictures from the usual stash of snapshots taken during our gigs (more pictures can be found on our LGF website and band blog)
Kreta Ayer gig on 23.04.05
We were invited to perform in this well-handled event organised by Central Singapore CDC and YMCA and it was a blast to play right in the centre of culture-filled Chinatown Complex. The experience of having passerbys, shopkeepers from the nearby stores, residents, old folks and other heartlanders stopping in their tracks to catch the mix-genre performances was simply heartwarming

The sound equipment company was really excellent. Soundcheck was a breeze with professionals around and we love the way we sounded there!

A very ethnic-looking grand stage. We like!

The audience that evening consisted mainly of the elderly, a handful of kids and parents. We were afraid our rock numbers would be frowned upon by them, but alas, all's fine :)

The event started off with Outram Secondary School's Chinese Orchestral.

...followed by this lady with amazing vocals (sorry, couldn't recall her name). She did some nice classics and even assumed dual roles in some opera piece.

Then came the funky, groovy Lindy Hop dancers from YMCA, who did a hilarious dance number with hokkien songs. They made us wanna take up dancing too *lol*

LGF finally graced the stage!

We went retro too! Check out our dress theme :P

SOCP ripping it down with his basslines while chOO adds background vocals to the tune

Drummer Mel putting his full concentration on his drumming...

...while Seto tinkered on his keyboards and chOO spicing it up with sound effects.

The voice of LGF, emi belted out tunes after tunes to entertain the audience.
East Coast Park gig on 17.04.05
Thanks to National Parks and Patrick for getting us this gig at the lovely East Coast Park. It's been a while since I've been there and the holiday/chalet/partying mood never fails to entice me whenever I'm at ECP. Once again, stepping onto beach with the sea in the horizon brought back lots of memories and nostalgia...
We made friends with the friendly members of the band, Pulse, who performed alongside with us! Couldn't help but talk gear and music with these young, talented guys (and a gal)!

A little pre-gig pose with my new babe :P Second time bringing her out for a gig.

This nicely taken shot shows our meticulous planning in our dress theme *lol*

Chun: I'm not gonna talk to you!
SOCP: Fine. I'm not gonna talk to you as well *lol*
Hong Lim Park gig on 02.04.05

The first gig that my Jaguar made an appearance on :) I like the dark clothes and setting...heh

I really like the flow of movement and the timing of this picture.
Asian Civilisations Museum gig on 13.03.05
We were one of the bands playing for an anime event held in ACM at the Empress Place. It's always exciting to visit places like these and gigging give me the opportunity to do so :)

This freaky picture looks as though I've broken my ankle or something from the the way my foot 'bent'. Fortunately, it was just a case of wearing loose boots *lol*

Despite the funny caption, we were probably NOT checking out any babes in the vicinity. Usually, we'd be too pre-occupied/indulged in our instruments-wanking that we hardly notice certain...ahem...finer details around us *lol* So, do us a favour and come up to us after the performance instead, yah? *LOL*

*lol* Okay, okay...not funny. But frankly, it'd be awful to be caught in that kinda situation. Just one of the pre-gig preparatory things to take note of ;)

I think I look like some punk rocker or metalhead in this pic *lol* In reality, I always have this 'angst-y' look whenever I sing backup vocals...wahahah!
