They eluded me...

This morning, I bidded for a 1973 Lefty Gibson Les Paul Custom on ebay during the last few seconds of the remaining time and I was the highest bidder when it ended!!!! I was thinking...hey, it wasn't such a bad deal when I threw in US$1875 for it. But as I scrolled my eyes down the annoucement, I almost got into a fit..."Reserve price not met"!!!! The silly me actually thought I won it but didn't realise that I didn't meet its reserve price!! URGH!!!!! Just when I thought I emerged the winner amongst the 30 bids...hmpt! Anyway, I've gotten over it since it might be a sign of better things to come *lol* (I love to console myself with such silly thoughts) Hopefully another one (in better condition) will come my way and end up hanging on my bedroom wall :P Wish me luck, guys.

In the light of this incident and recent events, I have decided to write a tiny poem of sorts:

My elusive life

The glittering stars above my head, they eluded me.
Sweet dreams of love and passion, they eluded me.
A stage bathed with spotlights and screaming fans, they eluded me.
Lyrics and melodies to unfinished tunes, they too... eluded me.
Self-expression is at a bottleneck
Expectations riding on my back
Self-indulgence is a vice
A winning bid above the reserve price
...all of which eluded me.

What travelling blues?

Yesterday's bus ride home is yet another memorable one. Nah...no Korean/Japanese drama-like encounters but something else that put a smile on my face.

As usual, the bus-stop was quite packed during knock-off period and by the time the 151 bus arrived, a substantial number of commuters of that bus had already built up. I tend to have the habit of letting people cut my queue and this time was no different. Again, I ended up not being able to board the already packed bus. I smiled to the familiar, friendly driver through the windscreen and somewhat gave the 'Oh well, don't think I can get up, I'll just wait for the next one' gesture/look. To my pleasant surprise, he actually asked the last girl who was standing at the steps to enter via the rear entrance...just so that I could squeeze in!! Gee...I really felt previleged (in a certain sense) that he personally saw to it that I made it up the bus. Not only he cautioned me whenever he was opening/closing the doors, he chatted with me briefly as well, breaking the usual sterotype of 'unfriendly bus drivers'.

I tell you...if anyone'd ask me to endorse the quality of Singapore public transport (at least for bus services), I'd gladly do it!! *lol* That was not the first time such excellent value-added treatment was extended to me. The other time another 151 bus driver actually stopped the bus, came out of his driver seat and woke me up when we arrived at my stop cos he had observed where I usually stop. I mean...how cool is that?! (okay, actually I felt a bit paiseh that I dozed off and everyone was like, wondering what happened). But at the end of the day, I really appreciate the fact that I didn't need to miss my stop, take another bus back and reaching home late.

While some condescending few might say that it sounds so 'propaganda' or 'government-supporting', I can only say that perhaps things like these never happened to them, and they've not learnt to appreciate this specific aspect of life in which I've not only received good services from using public transport, some of the most beautiful memories and experiences happened while on the simple passages as well :) (yes...some as dramatic as those Korean/Japanese dramas *lol*)

Jack Neo should hire me as an executive director and make a new local movie about urban love story-cum-comedy based on public transport call 'I not late' or 'Bus no stop' or something :P *lol*

Oh sexy gals, I worry for you!

This is a really random entry, considering the fact that 9 out of 10 of my entries are either on my band/music/guitar stuff or narcisstically self-taken hairstyling pics *lol*

A lunch trip just now triggered off some personal thoughts on sexily-dressed girls in campus. I realised that along my journey to the canteen during lunch breaks, it's almost certain that I'd come across a couple of babes in little/revealing clothing. Now while I'd admit that lunch-time is one of the happiest part of a working day to me, that's not the reason why (I treasure solace, peace of mind, a break from work, and of course, food more than anything else *lol*).

These girls, often either dressed in tiny mini/gravity-defying flowy short skirts, ultra small denim shorts or figure-hugging (and sometimes unbuttoned) tops...etc, seem to be oblivious to the dangers they pose to themselves (and others, if you consider all the potential risks caused by the...ermm...'distractions' *lol*). Aside from the dangers of enticing potential 'buayas' (perverts), it's also a rather crude sight if these girls forgot about their social etiquette. Just the other day when I was eating, a girl a few tables away was sitting with her legs open, swaying side to side constantly while chatting with her boyfriend and I was like...'Geez...'

Sure these can be sexy in the eyes of some people, but accidental panty/butt-crack/cleavage flashes can be a crude/rude/awkward thing for others (yes, even guys!). Sometimes I can't understand why would some girls subject themselves to these difficult situations while during other times, trying to fight for the preservation of their modesty?! Looking pretty and attracting attention is understandable but I don't know about that when I see them desperately tugging their skirts lower or having to climb stairs with wary looks and hands in awkward positions to shield themselves.

There's nothing wrong with flaunting their assets but they should know better the price to pay and what line to cross. It's like, if you wanna wear revealing clothes, you'd better cope well with the resultant stares from guys (and girls alike). I've read before an unhappy entry from a female blogger about how some lecturers are stealing glances at girls with short skirts during lectures, etc but have they thought to themselves why they even wanna wear that to school knowing that they'd get into such potential situations?! Okay...not doing any female bashing or anything but it's just my personal thought on the mentality of such minority group...maybe also speaking on the behalf of worried boyfriends and dads (which incidentally, none of these status are applicable to me *duh*)

Whew...I feel better now; this is like coughing out the rice grains which I almost choked on the other day *lol*

That's it. I'm getting desperate. I'm offering up to US$2100 (including shipping) for any used 1970/80/90s left-handed Gibson Les Paul Custom (Black/Ebony). Please feel free to contact me at: khaz@pacific.net if you have one to sell (overseas welcome). If it fills my bill, we'll work out a deal :)

Hopefully that'll bring some results since I've hunted high and low everyday on ebay, websites, online stores, and even Japanese Yahoo Auctions for it. Guess this is the results of accumulated "GAS* attack" and not having a g/f *lol*

It's been two weeks since I last blogged (which isn't a surprise for those who's been following my blog *lol*) but it's been more than 4 months since I last cut my hair (which...ermm...isn't a surprise too, for those who know me), so after some nagging from my parents and finding myself spending more time in the bathroom before going out, I've decided to make a trip down to my hairstylist for a trim...

Tada!

Didn't cut too much...just a little trim that make things a little neater.

Trying to look angsty *lol*

Just hope my next reservist won't come so soon man :/ I just dread having my hair cut to normal or short length.

Oh...on another note, I know it's late news but it seems that I'm one of the finalists in Blogfest 2006, a blogging competition organised by some folks in NUS. It's a 'vote-for-your-favourite-blog' kinda thing but I sense a conspiracy somewhere *raises eyebrow*...cos otherwise, how do you explain that my blog (in fact, my entire loversoul.com domain) is blocked/banned from access in NUS since Feb?!! Damn...now I can't blog during worktime...*Oops. Hope my colleagues/bosses won't read this* But hey...they won't! Since they can't access my blog from work! *LOL* Also, I realised from my stats counter that one of the highest traffic access to my blog is from the NUS host...hmm...hope I'm not been spied upon or something :x Sometimes, I do wonder who actually reads my blog (other than a small handful of my friends and band members). Voyeurs? Stalkers? Admirers? Fans? I wished *lol* It'd be cool to know who they are. So...folks, now is your chance to reveal yourself on my comments box!! Heh

Back to the Blogfest thingy...I'm not even bothering to 'compete' with the other contestants which, among them...are babes, intelligent, humourous guys, or those who have deep insight to political/societal happenings...and mine is just a narcissist extension of myself without much content, but since my blog is now monitored by the Blogfest committee (Hi Mandy!), I shall do my part as a contestant and garner some votes *lol* Do vote for me here (under the Most Creative blog category) only if you don't mind the troublesome steps and if REALLY want me to win some prizes or stand a chance to win an mp3 player for yourself, yah? ;) More importantly, do check out my band, LGF if you're into local music :)

P.s Thanks to the only 2 person who voted for me when I last checked the poll :) And yup, I'm the first to vote for myself so that it doesn't look too pathetic on the scoreboard *lol* So sue me.

Here's something random:

Recently on a new path I took home, I noticed this kitty taking an evening nap on a stack of chairs belonging to a coffeeshop in an alley. Kinda cute how "bo chap" it was when I teasingly made some noise just to have it looked lazily back to me and back to its nap :P
